3 Tips To Prepare For Your Sugaring Appointment

Before your sugaring appointment, there are a few steps you may want to consider to elevate your experience.

💞 First, wait around three weeks after shaving, because your hair needs to be at least 1/8” long, or the length of a grain of rice, to get an efficient sugaring. Otherwise, you may experience some hairs left behind.
💞 The night before your appointment, don’t exfoliate. Make sure to shower the morning of and/or take a sanitary wipe (we carefully place them in each room) to clean yourself up before the appointment begins so you’re nice and fresh.
💞 Lastly, if you’re a little hesitant or have a lower pain tolerance, feel free to take an Advil an hour beforehand to help ease the pain. You can also add a numbing spray to your sugaring session.

Let’s not sugarcoat it, there is some discomfort with hair removal. Here’s the thing: Sugar paste does not adhere to live skin. In order for the hair to be extracted, our sugaristas have to manually mold and melt the sugar paste into the hair follicles. What is slightly discomforting is your hair being removed by the root out of the follicle. It is not the most comfortable experience, but unlike waxing, this discomfort will dissipate within 15 seconds or so. 😅

Most waxes, NOT ALL, adhere to the skin as well as the hair. Imagine placing a piece of duct tape to an area of skin with no hair and ripping it off. IT HURTS, even with no hair. Most waxes are warm to HOT. 🔥 This heat incites circulation which is believed to make people entirely more sensitive. Sugaring paste, on the other hand, is room to body temperature.
